A class other than English in which I applied my annotating skills was Medicine and the Media. This class requires frequent but lengthy readings. Our professor asks us to read 150+ pages each week. In order to keep track of what I am reading and highlight key ideas I underline a lot. I tend to underline the main ideas of a paragraph and summarize them in the margins. This helps me to participate in class discussion, because my ideas are already written out. I can easily summarize what I read on a specific page and discuss what the section was about. Also, highlighting in various colors helps with writing essays or taking tests, because the bright colors attract your attention to the page.
