Nursing Logic Reflection #2

From the second Nurse Logic Module I learned a lot about client-centered care and how to educate clients on their at home care. Also, I learned the steps to properly teach a client in the hospital how to care for themselves. After you educate a client, it is also important to evaluate what they have learned so you can step in and reteach if needed. From this module I learned the importance of evaluating your patient to ensure they understood what you have taught them. The last important thing I took away from this module was professionalism. A patient and their family deserve a nurse who is professional and accountable for their actions. A nurse that is not professional is not going to get the same respect as a nurse who is.

Education of our patients and their families is a significant component of the nursing role. Unfortunately, often in the fast-paced world of acute care, we have scant time to provide the depth of teaching we prefer. Patients deserve and have a right to the best nursing can offer after all, it could be someone you love! Sam, feel free to combine Module 3 & 4 reflection as a single post if you wish.
