I chose this photo of a heart made of flowers and bright colors because I believe that nursing is the art of helping others through positivity and empathy. To me, this heart represents hope and growth which is what patients show in the hospital. It also represents the growth that all of us our experiencing in nursing school. Nursing is more than just treating patients, it is caring for them and having their best interest at heart.

  1. Sam, I love this picture and love your analogy! Although our pictures are not a like we both discussed how nursing is bigger than medicine and science! I chose to portray the fall foliage and how nurses will change and lose themselves, but will always come back to who they are. Which is more than just a profession because this career is special and is about relationships and communication!

    Sam,
I just saw this drawing for the first time last semester, and it is incredibly beautiful as is your interpretation! However, the artist should be cited and given the credit to which they are due. I agree that the flowers depict hope and I think, the capacity to love one another. The heart is not just muscle but holds such spirit…how exciting it is to have the ability to ‘touch’ one’s heart through nursing!

Really nice post! I really like how you connect this to nursing school, and what we are going through right now. I agree with how this picture has a deeper meaning than just helping patients. Your art is different than mine, for the fact they show different parts of the nursing field, but both show how important nursing really is.

This post is similar to mine as both the picture I chose and the picture Samantha chose relates back to how nursing also includes taking care of others more than just medically. Samantha includes how a part of nursing is also having positivity and empathy which I think is so important as this is how many clients get better. Caring for patients and having their best interest at heart is so important.

I am glad you chose this photo because it reminds me of how beautiful nursing really is. We are all here to learn and grow together. The watercolor in this painting is absolutely gorgeous. It brings positive light during this darker pandemic.

This is a really neat picture that you chose to use. I really like the different colors of the flowers on the heart and how you related it to growth of both the patients and us as student nurses. Your post is different from mine as you talked about the growth of people as individuals. In my post I talked about how each day is something new, and you never know what you may walk into that day.
