Final Reflection

From this project, I learned how to work in a team to compile various sources of information on one given topic. We constantly had to discuss how each article or systematic review applied to the other which helped me learn to communicate professionally. Also, in the process of form a research question, I learned it was okay if you question did not perfectly fit because you could always go back and revise. I found that in the research process, it was important to find more articles than you needed and then narrow it down to the ones that worked best for what we were trying to prove. When it came to quality improvement and evidence based practice, I think this project helped me see how difficult working in a team to change an already established concept can be. A lot of thinking went into how we could apply education to the culturally competent care we provide. As a team, our process was discussing what each of us thought and then tried to express it in words. We would then read through what other people wrote and comment on what we believed could be done differently and what we liked. I discovered that I am the team member that tries to find the connection between everyones thoughts. When people were having trouble finding a link between two ideas, I always tried to find it. Overall, this project opened my eyes to the good and bad of working as a team to improve hospital rituals or procedures.
